Bike Safety
Kia Ora everyone. Today and yesterday the class made a DLO. We were learning about bike safety. I found it fun finding all the info and writing it down. I got stuck finding the images. I want you to notice that it is important to wear a helmet and be visible when riding a bike. Blog you later.

Fruit Art
Today for reading we got to choose an activity. I chose to make a portrait of my self. We had to make it out of fruit. We also had to find the Maori words for the body parts and for the fruit. I really enjoyed making my fruit person. I found it was hard to find the Maori words.

The Mine
The Mine
Yesterday everyone walked down to the mine. In the mine there are lots of machines there are: 2 loaders, 2 diggers, 1 bulldozer and 1 nodwel. The loaders are for clearing the tailings(which means getting the rocks out the sluice) and loading the pay (which means getting dirt to load the sluice) the 25 ton digger is used for loading the sluice and the other 40 ton digger is used for digging. The bulldozer is used for getting pay. Finally the nodwel is used for testing the ground to see if there is gold. My dad drives the big 40 ton digger.

The beaver lodge
On Sunday everyone went down to the beaver lodge it has been ripped apart by an animal I think it was a grizzly bear. All the sticks were very sharp because the beavers have chopped it down with it's two front teeth. We haven't seen any bears, mooses or beavers yet but we have seen ravens, squirrels and cranes. The cranes migrate most nights in the form of a V. Here are some beaver facts: beavers young are called kits also beavers have orange coating on their two front teeth so they will not wear out. If beavers ever stop gnawing their front teeth will grow into their head. Sadly there are no beavers left in the lodge.
Here is a picture of the Beaver lodge.

The Flight
I would start by writing my blog about leaving New Zealand, riding the planes and waiting at the airport but all that was super boing. So I’m just going to skip that and head straight into things…
I’m only talking about one plane ride, my favourite one… the one to the Mine. ZOOOOM! Goes the plane as Stella, Mum, Caleb and I take off. The little blue plane zooms “off we go” I say. When we got up it looked super duper cool. The pilot started talking on his microphone and so did mum, they chatted half the plane ride. We started to fly over the cool mines. When we got to Tony Beets and Parker Schnabel (They are off gold rush a T.V show) mines we all started to wow. Tony Beets mine was going the loaders were working. Stella was sleeping and Caleb and I were laughing . We finally saw the Golden Moose, the mine that my Dad was woking on. The pilot went down to land. “Were back on solid land” I said.

Simple and Compound Sentences
Kia ora
We have been using Pear Deck to help us learn more about sentence structure so that we can get better at noticing where one sentence ends and another one begins. This should also help us get better scores for punctuation. This a screenshot of an activity we did: first we had to highlight the noun and verb parts of the sentences and then we had to decide where the full stops and capital letters should go.
